By discipline, Craig is an organisational analyst with experience in researching, developing and leading primary industry and community development projects. He previously worked in the business school at Massey University (1998-2020) and more recently worked on contract managing the aquaculture unit at NMIT and on the Sustainable Seas Science Challenge Blue Economy projects for the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER).
