Role at Cawthron
Grant leads the Healthy Oceans Group at Cawthron Institute. While his research focuses on broad marine biosecurity issues, he stills undertakes consultancy work for a broad range of marine-related projects. Grant is passionate about finding practical solutions, and presently leads research seeking to identify novel approaches to biofouling management on coastal infrastructure, working closely with industry and stakeholders to develop prototype systems and put them through their paces in challenging real-world scenarios. He also has extensive experience in assessing and monitoring the effects of human activities on the marine environment, including marine farming, port activities and outfalls. In these fields, Grant has authored more than 100 publications and consultancy reports.
